The U17 players Bruno Seichter and Roman Pokrasen are said to have particularly good chances of top placements. The duo starts in boys’ doubles, Pokrasen also starts in singles. With his current fifth place in the North German rankings, the Ukrainian is one of the favorites, and his coaches Michael Hewelt and Patrick Dettmann also see potential for top results: “There is definitely something in it.” Despite the strong competition, the two 15-year-olds are going as former U15 champions motivated in the encounters.

In preparation, Seichter and Pokrasen recently took part in a C ranking tournament in Peine, where Pokrasen took first place in the U19 division and Seichter secured the bronze medal in the U17 division. Additional intensive training last Saturday in Ludwigslust rounded off the team’s preparations.

Hermine Kunz and Lara Dethloff, who compete in the U15 age group, are also there. Although they start the tournament without a seed, the two young players are aiming to at least make it through the first round. Kunz is hoping for a notable success, especially in mixed doubles, together with her partner Muhammad Sytsh Abdulquuddus from Bremen, after the duo recently achieved fifth place at a northern German ranking tournament.

Christian Pril (17), who is taking part in his first North German Championships, is competing in the highest age group. Given the many years of experience of many competitors and the intensive training conditions at other clubs, Pril expects a demanding challenge but plans to give it his best.

The youngest Schweriner in the team, U11 player Charlotte Dettmann, has already made a name for herself. With a second place at a national ranking tournament in Hoyerswerda and a bronze medal in Liebenau, Lower Saxony, in October, the ten-year-old is one of Germany’s top 15 in her age group. In Elmshorn she competes in the U13 and is supported in doubles by Bremen’s player Tian You Don; in mixed doubles she plays with Lucas Jeschke from SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg.
