How does expansion work?
– An expansion draft is set up.
– Each franchise already in the NBA protects eight players who cannot be selected by new teams.
– The new teams choose 14 players in turn from among the unprotected players.
– The order of choice of each new franchise is determined by a draw.
– The order of choice is reversed in the next round (if a franchise selects first in the 1st round, it will choose a player last in the 2nd round).
