Sequestration of Paul Pogba: the trial of his brother Mathias and his relatives will begin on November 26

Before returning to the field after the premature end of his suspension for doping, Paul Pogba had temporarily converted to cinemas since the 2018 world champion made an appearance in the film “Quatre zeros” by Fabien Onteniente. But Pogba should soon visit a different type of place: a courtroom in a courthouse. Because the trial linked to the kidnapping and attempted racketeering suffered by Paul Pogba in March 2022 will take place from November 26 to December 3 at the Paris Criminal Court. Six men, including several childhood friends of the footballer as well as his brother Mathias, will be tried for a week for their alleged involvement in this affair. A sordid story set against the backdrop of money extorted from a footballer who became a star by an entourage who remained in the shadows.

The prosecution considers that these men organized a meeting in the Paris suburbs on March 19, 2022 to “force” the player to give them money, against a backdrop of “old relationships of the group, tinged with financial interests”. During a confrontation, Paul Pogba explained that he had previously “voluntarily” helped these relatives, including financially, but had on the other hand refused, in September 2021, to give seven million euros to three of them, before taking “his distance”.

Some time later, on March 19, the evening, which began with a family dinner then continued with a reunion with some of his “friends”, took a definitive turn when the ex-international had been kidnapped and robbed in the night by two men who demanded 13 million euros from him. The two judges believe that it “was not, as some of those indicted were able to maintain, a simple meeting friendly but many facts falling under criminal law.”
