The SG Spaden Devils/Woodlarks Lüneburg had already won the title in the North-West regional league season and wanted to crown their great season with the final victory against the southern champions Alfeld. Both teams competed with only eleven players each. An even game developed in which the Devils got on the scoreboard for the first time in the third inning after two innings without a run. In the end, the Spaden team prevailed 9:2.
The top of the cup broke off
The joy among the Spaden Devils/Lüneburg Woodlarks was huge. The teams were then honored with a trophy and medals for the players. Unfortunately, the championship trophy had been transported from Bremen to Alfeld by a parcel service and the top of the cup had broken off. That didn’t diminish the team’s joy.
Greatest success in the club’s eleven-year history
“After the runner-up in 2019 with the then SG with the Oldenburg Hornets, this is the greatest success in the Devils’ eleven-year club history,” says the deputy department head, Stefan Schlicht. It was also a huge success for the Spaden coach, Torsten Gick, in his very first year as coach.
The syndicate should be continued
“There is nothing to stop the Lüneburgers and Spadeners from continuing to form a syndicate again in the 2025 season,” said department head Jonathan “Jonny” Mücke (Lüneburg) and his colleague Schlicht. The trainers Torsten Gick (Spaden) and Gerrit Luhm (Lüneburg) also want to continue the collaboration.
