However, the first team kicked off the match day on Monday against ABC Frankfurt. The team had to do without Volker Schulze due to injury and couldn’t get past a narrow 3:5. After a quick 0:3 deficit after the doubles, the team managed to catch up to 2:3. Both Richard Gudd and Paulina Goiny won their singles in two sets and there was hope for a turnaround, but this was not confirmed. Only Florian Hess scored another point for Bremthal. In the end it was almost 3:5 and the SGB now has the Red Lantern at the bottom of the table after three defeats in the district league.
On Sunday the second team was a guest at table neighbors TV Hofheim V. After the first four duels, the SGB was hopelessly behind 4-0 and was concentrating on limiting the damage. Pauline Happe won her singles and Isabel Sager / Thomas Steinecke won their mixed doubles and at least reduced the score to 2:4. The last two singles were lost again and in the end it was 2:6 from the perspective of the SGB, which is now tied with TV Hofheim at the bottom of the table in the Frankfurt (A1) district league.
The third team was used by the leaders TUS Steinbach. Here too, some failures had to be compensated for, so even the Bremthal press officer was reactivated and swapped the keyboard for a racket. In the end, however, the SGB had no chance and lost 1:7, with Noah Roger-Kalita scoring an honorary point by defeating his opponent in a thrilling three-set match. After just one win from four games, the SGB is in third-to-last place and now has to fight the relegation battle.
The U19 was also a guest at TUS Steinbach in the District League B and – with a weakened substitute – went down with a score of 0:8. Some of the games had a fairly clear outcome, but this was also due to the fact that the difference in age and experience was quite large. Johannes Kapp, for example, had to help out when he was deployed with the U13 I team at DASV Frankfurt in the afternoon.
The youngest players (U 11 II) were guests in the U11 mini-district league at Rot-Weiss Walldorf and lost 2:4. Benjamin Mayer put up a real fight, winning his singles with 21:15 and 23:21. Nele Wieland also played her game successfully with a clear two-set win. At the end of November, the “Minis” will play at home in familiar surroundings against TSG Oberursel, who also lost their game on Sunday and therefore at least remain within reach of the Bremthalers.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the first U11 team, which had to go to Friedrichsdorf. The team around the brothers Mateo and Pierre Chico Frate, Anna Schulze and Adrian Ebert won extremely confidently with a total of 6:0 and even achieved the feat of not losing a single set. The SGB is now the undisputed leader in the mini-district league 1.
The second team from the U13 (Mini District League B) also celebrated a victory in Friedberg. Lenny Zimmermann, Amir-Ali Mottagi, Valentina Thiele and Ariella Kim delivered a great team performance. After being 0-1 behind after the first doubles match, they turned the game around and Valentina in particular delivered a thrilling three-set match to take a 2-1 lead. Even though the following singles were lost and the overall score was only 2:2, Amir-Ali and Ariella won their two singles easily in two sets and made it clear that the Bremthal team won the points with a deserved 4:2. The SGB is in a secure midfield position in the table.
The U13 I was a guest at DASV Frankfurt and had an exciting duel. After the doubles it was 1:1 before Johannes Kapp, who previously played for the U19 team, won his singles in two sets. Hanyul Lee stepped up and put his opponent in his place in a close three-set match. That made it 3-1 and his brother had the chance to score the decisive fourth point with a win. Hanjun, however, made it just as exciting and also had to go into the third set, which he then won 21:14. In the end it was 4:2 for the Bremthalers, who are third in the table and are still in close contact with the two top teams BV Frankfurt and TV Hofheim.
The U15 I (district upper league) played against the strong TURA Niederhochstadt and had to admit defeat with a score of 1:7. What made matters worse was that only three boys were ready to play, meaning the mixed doubles and the second men’s doubles went to the hosts without a fight. Arne Röwer got the only winning point for Bremthal in a close game with 22:20 and 23:21. The SGB finds itself at the bottom of the table after two defeats this season, but can get back in touch in the next duel against Schwanheim.
Most of the U15 II also started in Friedberg in a new formation. The four boys were a bit disappointed in the end after a 6-0 defeat, but they can definitely build on their performance, as most of the games were narrowly lost and the team spirit was great.
This brings an eventful but mixed day of play from SG Bremthal/Fischbach’s point of view to an end. The hope remains that the autumn break will be used for recovery and the next training sessions will be used to warm up for the next duels with league rivals.
