MEXICO CITY (apro).- Basketball player Shaquille O’Neal donated 500 pairs of sports tennis shoes to low-income children in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico.
O’Neal visited Mexico City to celebrate that his official “Shaq” merchandise and a line of sneakers and clothing from the Los Angeles Lakers legend will now be available in the country.
According to the La Afificación website, the athlete stated that he felt flattered and surprised that the Mexican children recognized him and were excited to see him, even though he has not played at a professional level for more than a decade and described the moment as one of the best he has experienced on and off the court.
“I went to this city (Ecatepec) and there were a lot of kids who knew who I was, even though I haven’t played since 2011. The fact that the kids still know what I have amazes me, because there aren’t many good players who are still playing right now. , but the fact that I’m here with all of them doing amazing things. “We are making a difference by giving tennis shoes to 500 low-income children, who started crying when they saw me,” he said at a press conference.
During the meeting he remembered some of his teammates in the NBA such as Kobe Bryant, who died in 2020, whom he considered the best of all for winning three of his four Larry O’Brien trophies with him, while the fourth was with Dwyane Wade.
“Everyone I played with had good chemistry with me.
