The 29-year-old Johnson, who was born in Stuttgart, had recently been switching back and forth between the matchday squad and the practice squad. The practice squad includes all players who take part in the team’s training sessions but are not part of the main squad and usually earn less money. As a rule, mainly young players gather here.
Johnson is no stranger to the NFL
Johnson is not one of them. In 2019, he signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent and played his first NFL game on September 22nd. Since then, he has been under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders before signing a deal with the Giants in August 2024.
This was followed by constant ups and downs. In the preseason he played two games for the franchise, in the meantime he was also able to fight for a place in the team squad, but now the bitter news followed.

Johnson’s contract was terminated with immediate effect. He is now a free agent and can or must look for a new team. So far he has played 69 games in the best football league in the world.
