Almere City was painfully knocked out of the TOTO KNVB Cup Tournament on Wednesday evening. The team of coach Hedwiges Maduro lost 3-0 when visiting Quick Boys. Roda JC was also surprised. Heracles Almelo had every possible difficulty with first division club FC Winterswijk, but won.
FC Winterswijk – Heracles Almelo 0-1
The whole of Winterswijk turned out for the match against Eredivisie player Heracles Almelo. The Achterhoekers, who play at the sixth level in the Netherlands, fought bravely and decided to sell their skin dearly. Heracles was only dangerous in the first half through Jizz Hornkamp, who saw his header turned away.
The Heracles striker also had an excellent opportunity to open the score in the second half, but this time goalkeeper Ebbers was in the way with a feline reaction. The opening goal did not arrive until the 66th minute.
Juho Talvitie moved in from the right and struck with his left. Goalkeeper Ebbers saw the shot being deflected and had no reaction: 0-1. It turned out to be the only goal of the match. Heracles has thus averted the same scenario as last year. Then the team lost in the first round to the amateurs of HHC Hardenberg.
RKC Waalwijk – Vitesse 3-1
Early in the match, the team from Waalwijk had a large lead. Goals from Richonell Margaret, Oskar Zawada and Dario Van Den Buijs took a 3-0 lead before half time.
In the second half, Vitesse did something back through Irakli Yegoian. The Georgian made it 3-1, but that was it. For RKC it is the first victory in an official match since May 5, when they won 0-5 against Heracles Almelo.
Quick Boys – Almere City FC 3-0
Almere experienced a very painful evening in Katwijk. Quick Boys, the number two in the Second Division, was too strong for Hedwiges Maduro’s team with a score of 3-0. Ravelino Junte made it 1-0 with a beautiful long shot via the underside of the crossbar.
After Nick Broekhuizen hit the post, Milan Zonneveld made it 2-0 from a penalty. Joey Jacobs had recently received a red card for bringing down a player who had broken through. Broekhuizen signed for the 3-0 just after half-time, when the ball ended up with him at the far post. Quick Boys held onto that lead, despite Junte receiving his second yellow card after an hour of play.
MVV Maastricht – FC Den Bosch 2-1
Den Bosch is performing excellently in the Kitchen Champion Division, but was eliminated early in the cup. Törles Knöll headed the Brabanders into a 0-1 lead, but thanks to a striking header from Özgür Aktas and a goal from Ferre Slegers (after putting Bryan Smeets back), MVV converted: 2-1.
Rijnsburgse Boys – Roda JC 3-1
Roda JC was surprised by Rijnsburgse Boys, the leader of the Second Division. Delano Asante scored from the edge of the penalty area for the 1-0 and Mark van der Weijden scored the 2-0.
Cain Seedorf’s striking header made things even more exciting, and ten minutes before the end, Roda were awarded a penalty. However, Wesley Zonneveld saved Thibo Baeten’s penalty. After a low cross, Dani van der Moot then decided the game: 3-1.
