Roberts stated that despite the injury, Ohtani’s strength and range of motion are positive, which is generating optimism for the team. This situation, however, adds to the concern for the player’s health at a critical time, as the team has a 2-0 series lead and prepares for Game 3 in New York. “I hope he’s there,” Roberts said when asked about Ohtani’s possible absence.

The Japanese superstar has excelled this season, achieving a historic milestone by becoming the first player with a 50/50 season and projecting himself as a potential third MVP winner in the following month. Ohtani has a strong postseason destiny, hitting .260/.403/.460 with three home runs in 13 games, although he has yet to record a stolen base.

At the time of the injury, the Dodgers were leading 4-1, but the Yankees made a comeback attempt in the ninth inning by scoring a run, leaving the bases loaded before the game ended. After his injury, Ohtani was assisted by athletic trainer Yosuke Nakajima and retired to the locker room, leaving his condition for the next game in suspense.
