The long-time official from the Hohenems cycling club received the city of Hohenems’ biggest award.

Honor where honor is due. Year after year, many professional and amateur athletes deliver top performances. The city of Hohenems, in collaboration with the IG Hohenemser sports clubs, honored and recognized these top performances at the big sports gala in the Tennis Event Center. The count city has been an extremely good home for young and older sports stars for many decades.

The Hohenems city office paid great tribute to the top sporting achievements and invited the large Ems sports family to a nice evening. It used to be the “Oscar” and now it is the “Siegfried”. The focus of the awards and honors was the presentation of the “Siegfried”. Alfred Melbinger. Those responsible for the city of Hohenems with the mayor Dieter Egger and sports city councilor Mark Client and IG President Stefan Huchler were able to present the city of Hohenems’ highest honorary gift to a dazzling sports personality. Alfred Melbinger has been a member of the Hohenems Cycling Club for 48 years, including working on the committee for more than three decades. He has been the honored sports director of the artistic cyclist group for 46 (!) seasons. “My father-in-law told me to help him a little. The result is that I’m still active. You can achieve a lot in a club and it’s still a lot of fun and a lot of joy,” says Alfred Melbinger. Alfred Melbinger’s other outstanding activities include 25 years as a member of indoor cycling in Austria, 25 years as a member of the extended state cycling presidium, UCI commissioner, OC member at the Indoor Cycling World Championships in Dornbirn, national referee, trainer, initiator of the EMS Cup in Hohenems and, last but not least, fourteen Years President of the Vorarlberg Cyclists’ Association.
