Things are not going well for the Skyliners Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. But in the BBL Cup, the Hessians convinced against a favored league competitor.
Frankfurt/Main – The Frankfurt Sykliners are in the quarter-finals of the BBL Cup after a strong performance against EWE Baskets Oldenburg. Skyliners coach Denis Wucherer‘s team prevailed against their opponents from the Basketball Bundesliga with 85:79 (46:24).
The Bundesliga promoted team, which started the season with two defeats in the first three games, was the much better team in the home game for a long time and was 22 points ahead at one point. It was only in the final quarter that Oldenburg caught up, but despite the 37 points they scored there, they were unable to turn the game around.
The most accurate Frankfurt throwers were the two Americans Trey Calvin with 27 points and Malik Parsons with 24 points. Justin Jaworski was the guests’ best player with 29 points, three assists and four rebounds. dpa
