With the goals of Dominik Szoboszlai, the Hungarians achieved a 0:2 victory over our national team in the 4th round of the League of Nations.

After the coach, captain Edin Dzeko gave a statement after the match.

“We changed, tried something different because there was no Demirović and two other players with Barišić and Dedić. We started very well, we had two chances and we wanted to play. After those two chances, I don’t know what happened. We got into their rhythm where they only played long balls, and we got into that game of theirs. I don’t know if we were afraid, but there was no need because we started well. At this level and in this group, mistakes are punished and every mistake costs you, so you have to work hard to score a goal.”said Dzeko.

The captain believes that our team needs more courage and that we should not be afraid of a possible mistake.

“Football is a game of mistakes. Without them, there would be no goals. Sometimes you have to make a mistake in order to do something right the next time. You shouldn’t be afraid of that. It’s not easy because there were so many defeats in the last two years. Today, perhaps the first victory after a long time was expected, and perhaps that also influenced us to have pressure. When you play like that, you can hardly win and it happens that someone punishes you”the captain points out and adds:

“Let’s move on, I think we need to learn from our mistakes, but we need a long time to learn. We players also need to ask ourselves a little and see what we are doing on the field. Race, sacrifice, all that is nice, but sometimes you need a little more determination, even if you make a mistake, that’s football”.

Finally, Dzeko announced the last two duels in the group, the duels with Germany and the Netherlands.

“Gazibegović and Tahirović had those two chances and luck did not turn on our side. I think it was also seen in Hungary when we started the first 10 minutes, that they didn’t care. It simply suited them better. All the balls that were falling around me, they bought. You have to be realistic, these teams in the A division are a couple of levels above us, but you shouldn’t give up before the game. In every game we were there almost until the end and had a positive result. We have those two games and we need to make the most of them so that it will be a great experience for the team.”he concluded.
