During the summer holidays, the judo department offered special training: During the “Judo Safari”, the young and older athletes completed various sporting and creative tasks. 35 judoka took up the challenge and kept fit while playing during the holidays.
First on the program was athletics: During a course, the athletes had to jump through tires, crawl under poles, hop over boxes, pull themselves over a bench and run across a soft floor mat. The aim was to be as quick as possible and collect points. Next came the standing long jump on the judo mat and the medicine ball throw. Some people even threw themselves over the mat to the astonished looks of others. However, the older ones didn’t always have an advantage, because the quick, agile younger ones had an easier time with some exercises. Everyone worked hard, but also had a lot of fun.
The Budo fight offered a different challenge: from small to large, everyone competed against each other on the mat and tried to push or pull themselves out of a defined area. In addition to the use of strength, clever technique also played a role; some also used judo throws. There was enthusiastic cheering from outside.
At the end, everyone was given the creative task of designing something on the topic of judo. The results are impressive: from pictures from judo training to poems and sophisticated crafts, everything was there. It was great to see how much thought the judoka put into their sport and how they implemented their ideas.
In October, after the evaluation, the prizes were finally awarded to everyone: Based on the belt colors in judo, there were the awards yellow kangaroo, red fox, green snake, blue eagle and brown bear; Everyone received a certificate and an entry in the judo passport as well as a pretty fabric patch. The judo safari will take place again next year during the summer holidays.
Congratulations to everyone who took part – it’s great that you were there!
