The comprehensive institute n. 4 Chieti, as part of the expansion of the training offer, has activated an experimental sports course for the 2024/2025 school year. The idea was born from the manager of the comprehensive 4, Dr. Emilia Galante and involves joining the national network of “Schools for sport“, with the lead school being the IC Don Milani of Terracina (LT) and which has as its aim the coordination of lower secondary schools with sports-oriented experimentation. Alongside the director of the Fourth Comprehensive is Professor Erica Speranza, teacher of ed. physics at the G. Mezzanotte middle school who, as contact person for the motor and sports area of the Institute, organized and activated the course. This path was created with the aim of spreading the knowledge and practice of sports, even minor ones, as an opportunity for personal growth, socialization and inclusion. It is also aimed at promoting and establishing behaviors linked to healthy and correct lifestyles. The comprehensive four is the second institute in Abruzzo, after the Istituto Comprensivo Roseto 1, to have joined the network. The Ramiro Ortiz lower secondary school was characterized by its sporting bent. The course involves the extension of the weekly curricular hours from 30 to 33, with a two-hour afternoon return where students try their hand at various sports disciplines. This new initiative has given rise to a lively collaboration with local sports clubs who alternate every 4 weeks in the afternoon return. The clubs are: usd Pallamano Chieti, Pallavolo Chieti, Magik Basket, Atom’s, ASD Chieti Baseball, Atletica Pietro Mennea. The remainder of the 33 hours per week will be spent in training internships with Chieti Solidale srl for a project on food education in collaboration with the Commander of the municipal police of Chieti, Dr. Di Giovanni, with the Abruzzo Archers for archery, with orienteering with FISO and in a contemporary dance course.
The Sports Curvature will become fully operational for the 2025 – 2026 school year, activating a section and a three-year study path and involves the involvement of multiple local and territorial sports clubs.
The experimentation started on Tuesday 15th October with handball, in collaboration with the USD Pallamano Chieti, with which the institute now has a traditional appointment, the Institute Tournament at the “Casa della Handball” building where on Friday 18th more of 400 students. From Thursday 24 October, for three consecutive meetings the students of the course will participate in the training STAGE on nutrition entitled “Food, drinks and more: education for the ab – USE”.
