Die German football fans can hope for more NFL games. “What I can say here is that we have come to stay. This will not be the last game on German soil. We are firmly planning on Germany as an NFL game location in the future“, said NFL Germany boss Alexander Steinforth. They are currently in discussions. “We are optimistic that we will be able to announce what will happen in the next few years before the end of the year,” Steinforth continued.
The current focus is on the upcoming game in Munich. The Carolina Panthers will face the New York Giants on November 10th. The Bavarian capital was the host two years ago, followed by two more regular season games in Frankfurt. The league will return to Hesse next year, then the agreement in Germany will expire. Steinforth reported great interest from other German cities, but did not name any names. The Berlin Senate Department for the Interior and Sport recently confirmed to the RBB that they were in discussions with the NFL about possible league games in the capital. “We are convinced that the sports metropolis of Berlin with the Olympic Stadium is ideally suited as a venue for NFL events,” it said.
