JAKARTA – The Indonesian badminton team that won the World Junior Mixed Championships or the 2024 Suhandinata Cup received a bonus of Rp. 657 million.
Djarum Sports Bakti Foundation and President of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Fadil Imran each donated Rp. 457 million and Rp. 200 million for young athletes, coaches and support teams.
Djarum Sport Foundation Program Director Yoppy Rosimin said the bonus is their commitment to performance athletes who have displayed their full capabilities.
“I hope this appreciation can add motivation and spirit to win more champions at the international championships,” Yoppy said in a statement.
The Indonesian junior badminton team successfully emerged as champions after managing to beat hosts China in a newly tested relay points system.
With this system, Indonesia locked the victory with a score of 110-103. The result also paid off for Indonesia’s failure to reach last year’s final.
Fadil said this success brings its own pride to Indonesia. He also hopes that the glory of Indonesian badminton will continue to shine.
“As a form of honor for this achievement score, I thank those who are the best sons and daughters of the nation in the field of badminton,” Fadil said.
This is Indonesia’s second title of the tournament. Previously, the first title was won by Indonesian badminton heroes in 2019.
After that, Indonesia’s journey reached the semi-finals in 2022 and the final in 2023. However, last year’s title was not won by Alwi Farhan and his friends after folding from China 1-3.
