Super League Striker in Court Over Secret Sex Tape Scandal: A Story of Regret and Consequences

South Korean football player Hwang Ui-jo appeared before a judge in Seoul for the first time due to allegations that he secretly recorded his sexual intercourse with his two partners. The 31-year-old striker apologized to the victims, stating that he “deeply regrets causing disappointment”.

According to the prosecution, Hwang secretly recorded his sexual intercourse without his partners’ consent four different times between June and September 2022. The videos came to the fore after Hwang’s sister-in-law shared these images on social media for blackmail purposes.

The sister-in-law, who was tried on blackmail charges, was sentenced to 3 years in prison in September. However, the lawsuit filed against Hwang for illegally recording the videos continues. Prosecutors refrained from providing information about the identities of the female victims in order to prevent further harm.

“I APOLOGIZE”

“I will never do anything wrong again. I will strive to do my best both as a football player and as a person,” Hwang said in court in Seoul. he said.

Reiterating that he was sorry, Hwang said, “I sincerely apologize to the victims who were harmed by my actions. I also deeply regret that I disappointed the people who trusted and supported me.” he said.

Hwang, who recently made a change in his career, was transferred to Alanyaspor club from England’s Nottingham Forest team last month. Hwang signed for Alanyaspor during the interim transfer period last season and played on loan for 6 months.

Alanyaspor’s 32-year-old player succeeded in scoring 2 goals in 3 matches in the Super League this season.
