Paul George showed in his first appearance for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA-Preseason impressive accuracy. In the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, he scored 23 points and was his team’s best scorer, even though the 76ers lost 111:121.
In 26 minutes on the floor, George hit eight of 15 shots, including four successful three-pointers. He also collected six rebounds and two assists.
A new start in Philadelphia
The 76ers signed George in the summer and gave him a four-year, $212 million contract. Philadelphia is the nine-time All-Star’s fourth stop after seven years with the Indiana Pacers, two years with the Oklahoma City Thunder and five years with the LA Clippers. George, who averaged 20.8 points in his 14 NBA seasons, has also been named to the All-NBA team six times.
The game in Des Moines was a home game for new 76ers coach Nick Nurse. The Iowa native previously coached Minnesota’s G League team when it was still based in Iowa. He was the youngest college coach in the country when he took over at Grand View University in Des Moines at the age of 23.
