Tank Cooks Chili | Barstool Sports

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb 90% lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup finely chopped bell peppers (red, green, yellow)
  • 3-4 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 can (4 oz) canned diced green chiles (hot, mild, or a mix)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) canned fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce 2-3 tbsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano Kosher salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro for serving

Directions:

  1. Brown the meat and drain the excess fat.
  2. Sautee the Onions and Peppers for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the onions and peppers with the meat and cook for 2-3 minutes to let the flavors bloom.
  4. Add to a crockpot
  5. Add Seasonings: Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute to let the spices bloom.
  6. Incorporate Other Ingredients: Add the tomato paste, diced green chiles, fire-roasted diced tomatoes (with juice), and tomato sauce. Stir well to combine.
  7. Cook for 4-5 hours on low heat
  8. Serve: Ladle the chili into bowls and top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro if desired. Also great on Chili Dogs.
