WUHAN, China (Reuters) – The singles final of the Wuhan Open women’s tennis tournament was held in Wuhan on the 13th, and top seed Arina Sabalenka (26) from Belarus won her third consecutive title at the tournament. 4th win this season, 17th overall on tour.
Sabalenka faced fifth-seeded and local player Chung Qin-moon and won 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. She hit 7 aces and 32 winners and did not give a single break chance in the first set.
“It’s unbelievable. This place definitely feels like home,” said Sabalenka, who became the first player in the tournament’s history to win three consecutive titles. “Thank you for coming to watch the game and creating a great atmosphere. Even though I was rooting for my girlfriend (Jung), I was able to enjoy playing in front of everyone. Thank you for supporting me throughout the tournament. Thank you very much,” he expressed his gratitude to the audience.
