In a duel between two youngsters, the unseeded 21-year-old prevailed in the final against number six seed Ben Shelton (USA/22) 6:3, 7:6 (7:4).
Mpetshi Perricard, who had already won the 250cc tournament in Lyon this year, moved up 19 places in the world rankings to 31st place thanks to his success in the 500cc competition in Switzerland – a career high.
The outsider had previously beaten the number three seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and the Dane Holger Rune (No. 4) in Basel without losing a set.
