The awards from the National Sports Veterans Union in Signa

Florence, 17 October 2024 – The sixth edition of the UNVS Athlete of the Year award will take place on Tuesday 22 October starting at 6.30 pm at Villa Alberti in via San Lorenzo a Signa, an event to reward and remember sporting exploits of athletes, former athletes and leaders of the metropolitan area.

The awards ceremony is organized by the UNVS Azzurri Section Fulvio Nesti – Egisto Pandolfini Le Signe in collaboration with the municipal administration of Signa and will see the participation of the sporting and institutional authorities: together with the mayors of the Municipalities of Signa and Lastra a Signa Giampiero Fossi and Emanuele Caporaso with their respective sports councilors, Marcello Quaresima and Mirio Bogani and with the delegate of the CONI of Florence Gianni Taccetti who is also the president of the Committee of the National Athlete of the Year 2023 UNVS Award

“The promoting committee of the UNVS award, a meritorious and social promotion association recognized by Coni – declares the president of the UNVS delle Signe section Leandro Becagli – has awarded the 2023 Athlete of the Year award to Vittoria Guazzini, 24 years old”.

Vittoria, a cyclist who grew up sportingly in the streets of our home, lives on the border with Signa in the nearby municipality of Poggio a Caiano, blue of the Fiamme Oro, winner this year of the Italian and European championships in addition to the beautiful gold in Paris, despite her young age she has a very impressive palmares both as a Junior and as a professional.

The emerging national athlete award goes to two very young dance artists Viola Laci, winner of the Italian Super Cup and world champion of salsa, bachata, merengue, and Gaia Spinelli, winner of the Italian Super Cup and world champion of salsa, bachata, merengue, both from the Asd Just dance school Dance by Lastra a Signa directed by Jacopo Montalbano. The prize for the local club will go to the Polisportiva La Lanterna, winner of the third category championship, the provincial cup and the Tuscany football cup in its first year of activity.

The “Sport and Solidarity” award for the message: “integration is exciting, re-proposing sport in the search for attention” was awarded to the ASD Shin Do Kan, from Lastra a Signa which carries out an intense Martial Arts and integration activity.

For the Sports Veterans category, the award to the sports veteran from Signe entitled to the “memory of Libero Sarchielli”, a meritorious sportsman and historic manager from Signe, goes for the commitment, passion and love for sport expressed in favor of the territory, respectively to Roberto Alessi (Cycling), Paolo Moretti (Baseball), Andrea Nepi (Volleyball), Stefano Nistri (Judo), Alessio Nunziati (Football).

Last but not least, the 2024 UNVS National Sports Ambassadors Award goes to two people, Valpedo Becagli, a historic boxing sports manager who in past years has brought local boxing to national and international levels with the organization of many important events in Signa and Tuscany. The other recognition goes to journalist Antonio Mannori, authoritative and competent pen and voice of cycling, who has become the reference for cycling in Tuscany and beyond. During the ceremony there will be a moment of remembrance of the honorary president of the Beppe Bonardi section curated by his actor and director friend Alessandro Calonaci. The event is sponsored by the Municipalities of Signa and Lastra a Signa, by the Metropolitan City of Florence, by CONI Toscana and by SPORT E SALUTE Toscana, by the National UNVS and by the ANSMeS National Association of Stars, Palms and Gold Collars of Merit of Coni and the Chip.
