The baseball World Series will pit the Yankees against the Dodgers

The final of the North American professional baseball championship (MLB), the World Series, will pit two of the most famous teams in history, namely the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This will be a 12th title encounter between the two teams, the first since 1981.

On Sunday, the Dodgers were led by Japanese star Shohei Ohtani, on a ten-year, $700 million contract, author of 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases in the regular season. They won their series 4 victories to 2 at the expense of the other New York team the Mets. They won their last match 10-5 in Los Angeles in the National League final.

Authors of the best record in the regular season (98 wins, 64 losses), they will play the World Series for the 4th time in eight years. This will be the 22nd final for the franchise which has 7 titles. The last one dates back to 2020.

Historically, the Dodgers were born in Brooklyn, a neighborhood of New York, while the Yankees were located in the rival neighborhood of the Bronx. In 1958, the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles.

The same year another team from New York, which played in Manhattan, the Giants, arrived in Los Angeles. She also has a big rivalry with the Dodgers.

On Saturday, the Yankees and their star Aaron Judge offered themselves a first final since 2009 and the 41st in their history. They eliminated the Cleveland Guardians 4 to 1 in the American League final. The New Yorkers have not been crowned since 2000. They hold the record of 27 trophies.

The series between Dodgers and Yankees will begin Friday in Los Angeles, best of seven games.
