“The best player in the majors”: Aaron Judge in admiration of Shohei Ohtani

It is with great respect that major league baseball stars Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani prepare for the highly anticipated World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

For the first time, two players who totaled 50 or more long balls in the regular season will face each other in the grand final. They also have a very good chance of being voted MVP in the National League and American League.

Judge, however, reserved a very nice compliment for his Japanese rival on Tuesday.

“He is an impressive athlete, the best in the major leagues. What an ambassador for this sport,” he said at a press conference.

Ohtani’s reputation is well established. As a designated hitter in his first campaign with the Dodgers, he hit 54 home runs and stole an unheard of 59 bases.

“His batting average, his power, his speed… What he did this year with the 50 stolen bases, we talked about it a lot, but I don’t think we talked about it enough,” added Judge.

Yankees number 99 has nothing to be ashamed of in his 2024 campaign either. He finished with 58 hits, four walks and 144 RBIs. He also maintained his career-best batting average (.322).

The highly anticipated World Series will begin on Friday at 8 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
