The Board pays tribute to the Andalusian Olympic athletes

Andalusian Olympic and Paralympic medalists, participants in the last Paris Games, were received this morning in San Telmo by the president of the Board, Juanma Morenowho has conveyed his gratitude and pride on behalf of all Andalusians.

The Board has paid tribute to the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Andalusia who participated in Paris 2024, in an event in which the president, Juanma Moreno, has picked up the glove of the walker María Pérez and the badminton player Carolina Marínand has guaranteed that they will work to help professional athletes also when they finish their careers.

Moreno has said that institutions must do “a great effort” to accompany the athletes, not only in their path of success, but also “in the subsequent transition”, so they are working to see how, when they retire, they can continue to “contribute”.

The Board is going to give this request a “turn”which the two athletes have done in their public interventions, and is going to study what is done in other countries, according to the Andalusian president.

He has indicated that the Board will do everything in its power to improve the sporting ability of athletes and also their “personal development throughout life, also after sport.”

Moreno has highlighted that this event, held at the San Telmo Palace in Seville -seat of the Presidency-, serves to “pay tribute” to the athletes, but also to make “a wake-up call to society” about the importance of sport.
