The city of Ravensburg and the sports association honor Anna-Maria Wagner

30.10.2024 | On Friday, October 25th, Anna-Maria Wagner‘s celebratory reception took place in the Ravensburg town hall.

The most successful Ravensburg athlete

As a two-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist, the judoka is the most successful Ravensburg athlete of all time. At the 2024 Olympic Games, she was granted a rare and high honor: together with basketball player Dennis Schröder, she was allowed to carry the German flag at the opening ceremony on the Seine in Paris.

Honor and entry in the Golden Book

Mayor Daniel Rapp and the sports association chairman Karlheinz Beck praised these outstanding achievements at the ceremony in the small meeting room. Friends, family and fans, along with local council representatives from all parties, applauded Wagner’s second entry in the city’s Golden Book with long applause. Wagner thanked them and their companions such as KJC founder Günter Mohr and their long-time trainer and judo pioneer Christa Hoffmann in her speech.

At the end, Anna-Maria Wagner was presented with a very special gift by Mayor Rapp and the sports association for her extraordinary achievements: a caricature by Rainer Weishaupt showing Anna-Maria Wagner with the German flag in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris at the Olympic Games.
