The coach of the Murcian club Santiago de la Ribera is provisionally released after being arrested by the Civil Guard
A player from the senior women’s team Santiago de la Ribera FC —San Javier club (Murcia)—filed a complaint for alleged sexual assault by its coach. According to ‘La Verdad’, he was arrested by the Civil Guard and later released on charges pending trial.
Last Tuesday, the Murcia club confirmed in a statement the dismissal of the reported coach.
In statements to ‘The Truth, José Antonio Pérezpresident of Santiago de la Ribera, assured: “We acted as soon as the coach himself informed us of the complaint, because our priority is the protection of the players. He was hired after checking the Registry of Sexual Crimesin which his file was clean, so we trusted his behavior until we learned the reason for the complaint.
«The young woman, 17 years old, reported having been the victim of sexual assault by the coach outside the sports facilities. According to his testimony, he abused his position of authority over the minor to have sexual relations with her without her express consent. Both the complainant and her sister left the club at the request of the minors’ mother,” reports the Murcia newspaper.
And he adds that investigation sources assure that the coach has defended his innocence at all times.
