[스포츠서울 | 박준범기자] The Korea Tennis Association has separated from the management organization of the Korea Sports Council.

On the 15th, the 21st Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court cited the Korea Tennis Association’s application for a temporary injunction to suspend the designation of the management group, saying, “The effect of the designation of the management group is suspended until the ruling on the main case is confirmed.”

As a result, the Korea Sports Council’s decision to designate the Korea Tennis Association as the management organization in July became ineffective until a ruling on the merits was made.

The Korea Sports Council designated it as a management organization last July, saying, ‘It is impossible to pursue normal business due to the billions of won in debt owed by the Korea Tennis Association to Media Will.’ The Korean Tennis Association vehemently opposed this. A request for a temporary injunction to suspend effect was filed and accepted on this day.

At the end of June, the Korea Tennis Association elected former president Joo Won-hong as its new president and received a full debt forgiveness from Media Will under the condition that the Tennis Association is not designated as a management organization. However, the stance of the Korea Sports Council was different. They countered that if ‘unconditional indemnity’ was not achieved, they would have no choice but to designate it as a management organization.

The court’s citation gave the Korean Tennis Association greater scope for maneuver. [email protected]
