If Belgian teams are still looking for a sports director, they could contact Olivier Renard. He is back in Belgium after leaving Canadian club Montreal Impact. Renard is often present in Belgian stadiums and spoke to La Derniere Heure.

Renard could have returned to work, but he refused. “I received offers, but none managed to convince me,” he explains to the Belgian newspaper.
Renard worked in Canada for just under five years. Before that, he spent around three months at Royal Antwerp FC and years at Standard.
Departure of Major League Soccer
Why did he leave Major League Soccer? “A new president arrived and he had a different vision from mine, even though we had worked well until then. I had rejuvenated the core, we reached the play-offs and we sold a few players to European clubs. With the new president there were disagreements and, as I am loyal to my employer, I had to tell the owner that it was not working.”
He recalls that it was the same thing at Standard, when Michel Preud’homme was coach, vice-president and sporting director there. Renard did not agree with the drama transfer policy of the time. Renard is only 45 years old and therefore still has many years ahead of him as a sporting boss.
