Born in Naples, as mentioned, in 1959, Nicola Maffulli graduated with honors in Medicine from the University of Naples Federico II. Having moved to London to specialize in Orthopaedics, in the English capital Maffulli was then a lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, the Great Ormond Street Hospital, Queen Mary University and the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, while in 2012, on the occasion of the London Olympics, he coordinated the medical services for the judo and wrestling competitions.
