THE PRESS | Diary – English Football / Manchester City new leader, after Liverpool draw

In the Premier League, Liverpool tied with Arsenal 2-2, for the 9th round of English football, but gave up the lead to Manchester City, who had beaten Southampton the day before. This distribution of points benefits Manchester City, current quadruple champion and new leader with 23 points ahead of Liverpool (2nd, 22 points), Arsenal (3rd, 18 points) and Aston Villa (4th, 18 points). Chelsea (5th, 17 points) is close behind after their 2-1 victory against Newcastle.

Far from the top positions, Manchester United (14th) lost 2-1 against a West Ham team that was also in trouble in a duel in which the ‘Red Devils’ forgave multiple chances and were punished with a goal in stoppage time.

Chelsea relaunches after its 2-1 defeat at Liverpool last weekend, and prolonged Newcastle’s bad streak, twelfth after 5 games without a win (3 losses and 2 draws).

Also in the English capital, Crystal Palace (17th) won 1-0 against their neighbors Tottenham (8th).
