The delivery of the Mario Ortega Olympic Merit, El Águila, the Sports Union of the Duarte Province formally announced the holding of the act through which eight past athletes who have had an exemplary sporting and civic life will be recognized.
The announcement was made in a meeting with the press where Professor William Hernández, president of the Sports Union of the Duarte Province, UDEPRODU, stated that this year those recognized will be from football and from the municipality of Castillo Julián Oscar Burgos and Ramón Antonio Acevedo, from basketball. and soccer Rosa Miledys Reynoso, baseball Rafael García and the current Director of the District Board of La Peña Oriol Negrín, while basketball, softball and volleyball Chery Victoria who has been a professor at the UASD and member of the Board of Directors of the Duarte Association of Savings and Loans, of Judo Victor Olivo who has developed a brilliant career as an athlete and in recent years as a coach of dozens of young people from the El Capacito sector and finally Teacher Angélica Cruz who in her life as an athlete was the national pinwheel softball team and it is also the only one in the country with a women’s softball school.
The event will be held on Wednesday the 23rd at 5 pm in one of the UCNE rooms in front of the Duarte Park in San Francisco de Macorís.
