Twenty-five minutes into the fight and the charts were moving. And for several weeks, months. Patrik Kincl did not defend his middleweight title on Saturday. He was beaten on points by <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2023/11/octagon-czech-gets-ko-heavyweight-has-a-new-champion/" title="Octagon: Czech gets KO, heavyweight has a new champion”>Kerim Engizek at Octagon 62 in Frankfurt. He is now the champion, his winning streak has lasted for more than ten years. And after winning the tournament, which was watched by over 59,000 fans, he reigns supreme in the Octagon division.

Middle division ranking champion Kerim Engizek, number one Machmud Muradov and number two Patrik Kincl. The former champion lost two places, according to Octagon, not only Engizek jumped him, but Muradov also got ahead of him. Piotr Wawryzniak and Marek Mazúch are behind Kincle. And these two will fight on November 9 at Octagon 63.

Engizek vs. Muradov, that’s a potential next title fight. A rematch of the champion with Kincle is also not ruled out. The planned Tipsport Gamechanger, which will likely take place and accompany fans through 2025, can speak volumes to this division. Does it matter who will be in this million-dollar pyramid, will they all be the best according to the current rankings, who will the organization bring in from abroad?

Saturday’s match also entered the Fightmatrix ranking, which is recognized worldwide and brings together the best fighters across the continents.

Kincl was the highest before the weekend, now the situation is as follows. 33rd place Muradov, 47th place Engizek and 52nd place Kincl, who was previously in 35th place. Engizek was previously ranked 89th. What is certain is that this division is among the best filled in the Octagon in terms of world ranking.

“I’m disappointed with my performance. It’s my fault. Now I’m emotional, I’m disappointed, the rest will come later. Congratulations, Kerim,” said the deposed Czech fighter at a press conference after the match.

The match didn’t suit him, nothing worked out, a lot of pressure, time to question where the mistake was. But everything changed after Kincl and his wife crashed on their way home from Germany.

“The loss fell off me like rainwater. Normally I would have bathed in it for a fortnight, a month, solved it, but what the hell, when we were coming back, we had an accident outside Pilsen,” Kincl published the details on Monday evening on his YouTube.

“I was driving the car, we were entering such a stupid section, to the horizon, I had the cruise control there, 130, 140 ceiling. As we reached the horizon, the car slowed down slightly. To catch up, I feel it gaining power, adding gas. In front of me I was going around a car that was spewing water on me from the wet road, so I hit the brake to turn off the cruise control and suddenly I caught a skid and we were already rolling,” Kincl described the critical moment. His wife then ended up in the hospital as a precaution.
