The U.S. team won the overall championship in the overseas category at the 10th Gimhae National Sports Festival held in Korea.
The U.S. team dispatched a total of 156 athletes, the largest number among overseas teams, to the 105th Gimhae National Sports Festival, which lasted for 7 days until the 17th, and won 12 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze medals (excluding golf tally).
3 golds in Taekwondo, 6 in bowling, 2 in squash, 1 in tennis and table tennis, 2 silvers in Taekwondo, 5 in bowling, 1 each in tennis, table tennis and soccer, bronze in Taekwondo, kendo and tennis men’s singles and tennis, winning one medal each in women’s singles, table tennis, and bowling.
Kim Yu-jin, former president of the Washington DC Sports Council, said on the 16th, “There is still golf left, but among the overseas teams, the United States won the overall championship. There were a total of 17 overseas teams in this tournament, and the United States was followed by Japan and Indonesia.”
In addition to the United States, Japan, and Indonesia, athletes were dispatched from Brazil, China, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Brazil, Australia, Argentina, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Saipan, and Guam.
