The last weekend of September 2024, the BCHP (Badminton club du Haut-Poitou) hosted, at the Maillots gymnasium, the first stage of the regional ecobad youth Trophy. The TRJ is a regional circuit of five stages for the best young people in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Five members of the club (four boys and a girl) participated and shone, notably Clara Jamelot (11 years old) who, outclassed, reached the final in the twelve year old category, while Gabriel Boulais was also a finalist in his age category (11 years old) .
Linked to the territory
The vitality of the BCHP is expressed both on the gymnasium floors and outside, in the animation of the territory. In addition to fielding its young people in the various tournaments, the BCHP is represented in the regional and departmental championships by nine senior teams (five mixed, two men’s, one women’s and one men’s veterans).
Off the court, the BCHP participates, as in previous years, in the Pink October event (at the Maillots gymnasium, October 19, from 8 p.m.). He will organize a job dating (date to be determined). Above all, he is considering finding an extension to his partnership with the La-Chaume-La-Salle college, in Vouillé. Eighteen boys and two girls, members of the club and students in year 6e at 3e at college, practice badminton there, three hours a week. Brice Lagarde, the president of the BCHP, is considering setting up a system with a Poitevin high school, which would give them the same opportunity to continue their practice, within a badminton section, for example.
The president nevertheless warns of certain threats: “We operate thanks to volunteers, a successful private partnership (€15,000), financial aid from the community of municipalities and the Department, and logistical support from the municipalities of Cissé and Vouillé (time slots made available in the gymnasiums). A lesser commitment from volunteers and partners, private and public, would hinder our development and very quickly put us in difficulty. »
