Tunisia is the only team on the 2009 podium which has not suffered a defeat in Madagascar. His coach concludes that it is the most consistent team, but that there are many teams to respect.

Three matches, three victories can we say that Tunisia is in its place?

We are in the same place as Senegal (laughs). We are in our place, we still won two games easily because we played well in defense. For Rwanda to score only 37 points is not easy, for the RCA to score only 52 points is not within the reach of all teams. Our strength is to be very united in defense. Now you shouldn’t be too euphoric. We can go far but we keep our feet on the ground by remaining determined.

How will you approach your round of 16 match against South Africa?

We will play against South Africa in the 1/8 finals. It’s a team that we respect because we know that at this level it’s not going to be easy. In our head it’s a match that will be prepared like the other matches with the same seriousness because from now on we have to take it match by match.

In general, which teams are currently breaking away?

Maybe Tunisia and Cameroon because after that I didn’t see any very consistent teams. I saw Senegal who were excellent against Angola but who were very bad against Morocco who gave them the match. Maybe it’s his strong point to have a good mentality to come back but hey, generally speaking, we realize that it’s not the names that make the teams, but rather the teams that can make themselves own name.
