Thiem also loses his second show match in Frankfurt

Dominic Thiem also lost his second group match at the UTS exhibition tournament in Frankfurt. After the 0:3 against the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis the day before, the 31-year-old from Lower Austria had to bow to the Canadian Denis Shapovalov 1:3 on Saturday afternoon.

Thiem made up for a set deficit, but then lost. In the evening session on Saturday he will face Ugo Humbert from France in the final match.

In the exhibition tournament, the matches are played in four quarters of eight minutes each. There is only one serve and only 15 seconds between points.

From Sunday in Vienna

Thiem will have his own “Farewell” event on Sunday evening in the Wiener Stadthalle in a show set against Alexander Zverev, including a longer farewell ceremony.

On Tuesday evening he will probably play his farewell game at tour level against Luciano Darderi (ITA) in the last regular tournament of his career.
