The final part of the season is already here and traveling to remote places to compete in a Challenger that only awards 50 ATP points to the winner can mean a great financial effort for the players. For this reason, hardly any players have confirmed their presence in the Brazzaville Challenger (Republic of the Congo) and the tournament has had to take some measures that are close to surrealism, since the main seed of the tournament is not even among the 200 best players in the world and the eighth seed does not reach the 500th position in the ranking. In the main draw it is surprising to see up to 12 players outside the top 1000 and in the qualifying phase there are only nine players, five of them without a ranking. Thus, we will see several players who do not have a professional level.
As an exceptional measure, the tournament management has had to suspend the first round of the qualifiers and the few tennis players signed up will benefit from a Bye in the first round.
The top seed is ranked outside the top 200. And the No. 8 seed is ranked outside the top … 500.
Great place to vulture Challenger-level points.
If you can … get to the Congo. https://t.co/aCMSBV3L0N— Stephanie Myles (@OpenCourt) October 26, 2024
