The club of badminton from Ploërmel (Morbihan) opens at disabled sports. Since the month of September 2024people in a situation of handicap can benefit from a dedicated slot.

Create this section parabadmintonthe Ploermelais club had been thinking about it for some time. “It was a wish for several years. We have worked quite a bit on the subject. We particularly inquired about what existed in the region and elsewhere,” rewinds Chloé Pignon.

A limited offer for people with disabilities

The opening of these slots is the result of several years of work. These sessions reserved for people with disabilities must meet a need. But also a lack.

“I find that there is not much to exist for this audience. The offer is limited,” the supervisor in charge of running these sessions could only note.

Very few clubs offer slots for this audience. Until now, there were none in Morbihan. Since this year, there is Theix-Noyalo and us.

Wishing to offer people with disabilities the opportunity to practice a sporting activity, the club chaired by Gilles Renault and Yoanne Manceny wishes to take advantage of the opportunity to allow them to “get out of the structures and meet other people. »

Since launch Thursday September 12, 2024there are “around fifteen” at each session.

Exercises suitable for all levels

During the Thursday afternoon sessions, Chloé Pignon sets up exercises adapted to all levels. “The idea is to offer activities for everyone,” she explains. Games to work on mobility and endurance and time to work on throwing are included in the program.

Present during the slots, educators can observe the progress already made.

There are really all levels. We start by learning the basics. The instructions are adapted to everyone.

For the moment, the Ploërmel, Plumelec and Le Roc-Saint-André centers are participating in the sessions. A list likely to evolve over time. “They might as well benefit from it as much as possible. The slot is open to all types of disabilities,” announces Chloé Pignon.

“Disability is a cause that is close to my heart”

For her fourth season with the club, Chloé Pignon naturally invested in the development of this section. “I took this project under my wing,” she confirms. “This audience is particularly close to my heart. I have always loved sports and medicine. Disability is a cause that is close to my heart,” explains the woman who completed her STAPS Master’s degree in a medical-educational institute.

The objective is to make this section sustainable and respond to a need.

Wishing to include people with disabilities in the club, the decision was made to place the dedicated slot between that of young people and that of adults. “The idea is to highlight inclusion,” proudly explains the sports instructor oriented towards the adapted public.
