The derby between SpVgg Unterhaching and TSV 1860 Munich ended with a fair 2:2 (0:1). The first half of the S-Bahn derby was initially mixed, but at the start of the second there were three goals within nine minutes.

1860 with problems

The most emotional moment came before kick-off, as the players ran in with seriously ill children to draw attention to the work of palliative care.

The game started mediocre and initially took place between rather than in the penalty areas. The initially slightly superior team also had their first chances to score because they repeatedly caused problems with the game structure of the 1860s through intensive pressing.

One chance is enough

But the guests, whose fans made the S-Bahn derby seem almost like a home game, took advantage of Hachinger’s defensive negligence and converted the first chance of the game to make it 0-1. Ex-Hachinger Patrick Hobsch, of all people, headed from six meters over Konstantin Heide to make it 0-1 in the 33rd minute.

Inspired by the lead, the Lions were better in the game and were more stable. The Red-Blues, however, lacked ideas and creativity in the remaining minutes of the first half.

Three goals within nine minutes

Shortly after the second half kicked off, the whistle blew again. This time for a penalty. Sebastian Maier and Julian Kügel combined on the left wing into the center and just as Maier moved into the penalty area, he was hit in the heels by Jesper Verlaat. Simon Skarlatidis converted the penalty low in the left corner.

Thanks to individual quality and a goalkeeper error, the Lions took the lead again in the 54th minute to make it 1:2. Maximilian Wolfram quickly switched gears. Hobsch didn’t receive his high cross, but the ball landed at the incoming Soichiro Kozukii, who fired a volley with his right from 17 meters.

But the SpVgg stuck with it and put the pressure on. In the 58th minute, Jesper Verlaat accidentally maneuvered the ball with his knees into the right corner of the goal in his own penalty area to make the final score 2-2. In the end, the Lions tried everything to get three points, but were too timid in the penalty area.
