Three people were injured when a drone crashed during the Boston Celtics party at City Hall Plaza on Tuesday night.
Boston police confirmed that around 7:30 pm on Tuesday, a drone or parts of a drone used by a media outlet injured three people. Ambulances were seen transporting patients to hospital and police said all three people are expected to survive. They said no further information was available about the incident.
According to The Boston Globe, a CNN drone operator told police they were filming footage of the scene when the drone hit a light pole and crashed. CNN and TNT are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The drone was recovered by the police.
TNT, which hosted Tuesday’s season-opening party between the Celtics and the New York Knicks, issued a statement following the incident.
“Unfortunately, there was an incident involving a drone and fans attending last night’s event,” a spokesperson said. “On-site medical and security personnel immediately attended to the situation. We are currently investigating further and wish the best to all involved.”
