Martin Boiveau, despite these two defeats against Volant Airois, then Aix Université, what do you think of the start of the season for your team for its return to the Top 12?
We are disappointed with the first day. There are two matches that could have gone in our favor. Winning would have been perfect but a 4-4 would have satisfied us, we would have liked to get a draw. On the second day, it’s different. We had to deal on the one hand with the absences of Kien Hwa King (Malaysia, 20 years old) who injured his knee and will not resume until January and Giovanni Toti (Italy, 23 years old) who suffers from a severe tendinitis under the foot. We have no luck because they were recruited to play as starters. And on the other hand, Aix recognized that they had fielded their best team because their survival required two victories against us… We are disgusted, but that’s how it is.
We should be able to field “a team of weirdos” who can beat anyone!
Will these injuries have an impact on your stay in the Top 12?
At time “T”, no. Did these injuries serve as an electric shock? Unlike last year, we dismissed many players and normally, in the second half of the season, we should be able to field “a team of weirdos” who can beat anyone!
This weekend, you face ASPTT Strasbourg where Alex Lanier, currently the best French bad player, plays. Do you have a plan to counter his game?
We have heard reports that Strasbourg will not be able to field its best team this weekend. We really hope to win. We have no choice. And besides, I even think that Alex Lanier will not be present. He was injured last week in Denmark. It’s not a big trauma but an inflammation. In itself, he could play, but if he continues to push, it risks handicapping him for the rest of his season. And in the event that he is present, we know very well that we have no chance of beating him in singles. On the mixed side, on the other hand, we have Max Weisskirchen (28 years old, Germany) who could pose a problem for him…
