Traffic Alert: Benfica-Feyenoord Match – Key Routes to Avoid for Smooth Travel

The Public Security Police (PSP) reported, this Monday, that the game between Benfica and Feyenoord, which takes place on Wednesday, October 23, at the Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, is considered “high risk” and released, in a statement, the road constraints that the event will cause in the area around the stadium, as well as some advice for fans.

“According to current legislation, this football game is considered a ‘high risk’ event, with a capacity of approximately 60 thousand people expected”, reads the PSP statement.

The stadium doors will open at 6pm, but the PSP operation will begin in the morning with parking, traffic and patrol inspections in downtown Lisbon.

Therefore, the PSP foresees constraints from 5:30 pm on Avenida do Colégio Militar.

From 6pm onwards, “there will be normal restrictions resulting from the flow of traffic on Avenida General Norton de Matos, Avenida Lusíada, and Avenida Machado dos Santos, upon the arrival of the teams (6:30 pm and 6:45 pm) at Estádio da Luz, as well as around the Alto dos Moinhos Metro station (Rua João de Freitas Branco), where the food and beverage equipment (trailers) will be located (Rua Frei Luís de Granada, Rua Hernâni Lopes)”.

To fans, the PSP advises that they travel to Estádio da Luz by public transport, “avoid bringing their vehicles nearby”, arrive in advance “given the high turnout at the stadium and the need to carry out the necessary security procedures” and avoid carrying suitcases and backpacks.

Furthermore, the police remind that it is prohibited to distribute or sell false or irregular tickets, cause damage “to public transport, installation or equipment used by the public”, participate in fights, enter the lawn unauthorizedly and participate in attacks “provoked individually or in a group.”
