Clésio Ricardo, coach of Clube Recreativo Infante de Sagres, died last morning, after suffering a heart attack during a veterans’ game.
The 46-year-old technician was also president of the parish council of Sagres, in Vila do Bispo, in the Algarve.
«The Clube Recreativo Infante de Sagres expresses its deepest regret at the passing of our beloved coach Clésio Ricardo, sending our deepest and sincere condolences to his family and friends, praising the years of effort and dedication to the club. May he rest in peace”, reads the club’s note on social media.
The Municipal Council of Vila do Bispo declared municipal mourning for three days, highlighting the «enormous commitment, availability and dedication to the parish and its population during the exercise of its municipal functions», as well as the «much passion and dedication towards the athletes».
Clésio was recently on TVI’s «Goucha» program, where he recalled tragic episodes in his life, including the moment he was left in a wheelchair, due to surgeries that went wrong and the death of his son, in 2022, victim of fall into a ravine.
