Steinbach (stv). To mark its 139th anniversary, the Steinbach Gymnastics and Games Association (TuS) recently invited its members to the annual general meeting. The largest Steinbach club currently has around 795 members, 306 of whom are children and young people. The club’s chairwoman, Heike Schwab, thanked the 49 instructors and trainers of the individual sports departments, who showed a lot of creativity year after year for the smooth running of the sports operations and for motivating the athletes. She also emphasized the reliability of the volunteers, be it in the area of team sports or in weekend support during competitions. At the meeting, Oliver Rodenhäuser was elected as second auditor for another two years. It became celebratory when long-standing members were honored for their loyalty to the sports club. Mireille Hilper was honored for 25 years of membership. Barbara Sedlaczek has been a member of the TuS for 40 years and Renate Schade has been a member of the club for half a century.

But many sporting successes were also reported that evening. Last year, the Aikido department organized the annual course with Master Asai, national trainer of Aikikai Germany and 8th Dan Aikido in Steinbach. Participants from all over Germany came to the Taunus town. The badminton youth team finished the round of play in the B U19 district league with a 2nd place. The seniors, who have a syndicate with MTV Kronberg, were able to successfully take third place in the District League B. Mara-Louisa Arr-You and Patrick Thomsen achieved 1st place in the District League C/B at the Friedberger-Wetterau-Cup 2023. The first women’s handball team HSG Steinbach/Kronberg/Glashütten achieved second place in the F-District League B. The male C youth team (district league B East) was also successful, securing third place. In the mixed E-youth (South/East round), they had an excellent season with nine wins and only three defeats. The hiking department offers a day hike every month, which was also very popular with the ‘joyful’ and ‘fit’ last year. On average 22 hikers took part. The competitive gymnastics division organized the children’s gymnastics festival last year. Almost 300 children from Turngau Feldberg clubs came to Steinbach to take part in the gymnastics disciplines in the Altkönighalle, the athletics in the stadium and the gymnastics competitions in the Friedrich Hill Hall. The former TuS artistic gymnast Renzo Rosettani carried the flag when the clubs moved into the Altkönighalle.

The TuS was represented by almost 30 gymnasts. Seven gymnastics festival and six runner-up victories went to TuS. TuS won bronze three times. Five gymnasts competed in the 2009 and younger group competition and achieved second place. And the gymnasts also started in the relays. In the nine to ten year old age group, two relay teams took 12th and 13th place. In the eleven to twelve year old age group, the TuS relay reached 6th place and in the 13 to 14 year old age group, 1st place.
