TVG: Respect for Korschenbroich and huge anticipation for our own fans

Finally a home game again. It’s been over a month since TV Gelnhausen was last able to perform in front of its home audience in the Hölle Süd. It’s that time again on Saturday. Then the Barbarossa townspeople will meet TV Korschenbroich on the eighth matchday in the 3rd Handball League South-West (7.30 p.m., Rudi-Lechleidner-Halle). The anticipation among the players is huge. After three away wins in a row and a flawless start to the season with 12:0 points, the young skyscrapers led by captain Jonathan Malolepszy have sparked a bit of handball euphoria in the region.

Advance sales are going accordingly well. Well over 500 tickets have already been sold in advance. The TVG has launched the “TVG at half price” campaign for all clubs for games against the promoted team. You can send an email to [email protected] and purchase between 10 and 35 discounted tickets per club. The campaign runs until the Saturday of the match at 3 p.m. Clubs (not just sports) can still order tickets by providing the club name and a contact person with a cell phone number.

Visitors can look forward to a highly motivated TVG team. “Finally back home in front of our fans. We’re really excited,” says Alex Bechert. With his strong performances, the goalkeeper has played a large part in the current high of the Red and Whites, who have sensationally won all their games so far and are in second place behind the big promotion favorites HSG Krefeld (14:0 points) with one game less.

Bechert and his goalkeeper colleague Loris Tittel recently gained another teammate in Daniel Drozdz. The Polish U20 national goalkeeper signed a two-year contract with TV Gelnhausen at the beginning of the week and completes the goalkeeper trio. It remains to be seen whether the 19-year-old will be part of the game on Saturday, as approval from the Polish association is still pending.

“After such a long time, the boys are eager to play in front of their own fans. “We just can’t over-pace,” head coach Matthias Geiger raises his index finger in warning. “We have great respect for Korschenbroich. The enemy will demand everything from us. We will face a very robust team that plays very physically. Korschenbroich is a well-coordinated team in which everyone knows exactly what they have to do. We must therefore definitely not underestimate them.”

Indeed. The promoted team is in second-to-last place in the table with 2:10 points, but with the exception of the games against the top teams Krefeld and Longericher SC, they were within striking distance of every opponent until the final whistle. With left winger Max Zimmermann (38 goals) and back shooter Henrik Schiffermann (33), they have two dangerous players. Circular Mats Wolf and middle man Maximilian Eugler are in no way inferior to their two teammates. They are all very experienced actors.

“We therefore have to be particularly good and robust in defense against this physically very strong opponent and not allow ourselves to be defeated. Then we hope that with our quick legs we can create gaps in the attack in order to get into good throwing positions. All of this must be well prepared and we must not allow ourselves to be negligent. Then we have a good chance of winning the game,” says Geiger.

In contrast to the game in Dutenhofen, Benjamin Wörner and Henrik Müller are returning to the squad. However, Yannik Mocken was hardly able to train during the week due to a cold. Otherwise, all players are available to the coach apart from the two long-term injured Jonas Dambach and Lasse Georgie. “We are so excited for our fans and can hardly wait for it to finally get started,” says captain Malolepszy from the heart of his teammates. So everything is set up for a thrilling handball game in front of a great backdrop.
