UEFA will invest one billion euros in women’s football by 2030

UEFA promised on Wednesday October 30 to invest one billion euros to develop women’s football by 2030, targeting both grassroots practice, high-level professionalization and stadium attendance. This program is the second dedicated to female footballers after a first strategy announced in 2019 and which accompanied growth in income, players and audiences across the continent. By 2030, UEFA is targeting “six fully professional championships and 5,000 professional players on the continent”, compared to respectively three championships and 3,049 professional players today, and wants to make football “the most successful team sport popular with women and girls in all European countries.
