RIYADH – The first two players in the world ranking, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, confirmed the roles of favorites at the start of the exhibition tournament in Riyadh, where the record winning prize of six million dollars is up for grabs.
Sinner outclassed Daniil Medvedev 6:0, 6:3, Alcaraz lost to Holger Rune 6:4, 6:2.
World number one Sinner spent only 69 minutes on the court with Medvedev, number two Alcaraz stayed with Runa only a few minutes longer. In the semifinals of the event, for which the vile media received 1.5 million dollars for participation, the tennis players will face Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Both legends were seeded directly into the semi-finals. The winner of a record 24 Grand Slam trophies, Djokovic will meet Sinner, Nadal, who will end his career after the season, will play in the Spanish duel against Alcaraz. He will appear on the court for the first time since the Olympic Games, after which he treated health problems.
