Two days ago the Nets lost a pre-season friendly in Philadelphia, mainly showing poor rebounding. Last night at the Barclays Center, where many were distracted by the Liberty Finals in Game 4 at the same time as Minneapolis, things went much better against the Raptors. Even without Nic Claxton Brooklyn defended well (50-53 at halftime). Slipping down by 14 (58-72) in the third period after a triple by Scottie Barnes, the team attempted a comeback with the bench and Jalen Wilson 16-3 which almost tied the scoreboard even if in the end Toronto took away the victory for 112-116 with a layup by Ulrich Chomche, coming out of the timeout.

Accidents. Ben Simmons returned last night after missing the 76ers game on scheduled rest, Nic Claxton remained out, not playing a second in any of the four preseason games. Day’Ron Sharpe will also miss the opener, although this has been known for some time. Trendon Watford, on the other hand, is set to “receive an update” on the 21st according to Brooklyn’s original press release when they announced his injury.
NBA calendar. Brooklyn kicks off its 2024-25 regular season in Atlanta on Wednesday. The Nets are 20-28 all-time in season openers and 7-14 in season openers on the road. After playing their second game in Orlando two days later, they will open at home on October 27 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
