It is one of the big games of the season, the one that Valencian fans have marked in red on their calendar. But it won’t be played this Saturday. The match between Valencia and Real Madrid has been postponed, as has happened in the Cup match against Parla Escuela that should have been played tonight. In reality, it will not be the only one since this same night, LaLiga issued a statement in which it made it clear that “at the request of the clubs, it has requested the Spanish Federation to postpone the matches on matchday 12 of LaLiga EA Sports and matchday 13 of LaLiga Hypermotion that were to be played in the Valencian Community during this weekend: Villarreal CF-Rayo Vallecano, Valencia CF-Real Madrid, CD Castellón-RC Ferrol, CD Eldense-SD Huesca and Levante UD-Málaga CF». However, the Spanish Federation still had to make a statement, an issue that had not been resolved at the close of this edition.

It is not the first time that Valencia requested the postponement of a League match for a mourning reason. It actually happened last season, in a Granada-Valencia (February 24, 2024) as a result of the Campanar fire. The Andalusian entity did not pose any problems, the same thing that Real Madrid has done now, although LaLiga had yet to make a statement in that search for available dates.

Even so, the Generalitat Valenciana also spoke out on the matter. The General Directorate of Sports established that no sports competitions will be held during the three days of official mourning declared – from October 31 to November 2 -, as a sign of “mourning and solidarity” with the DANA victims and their families.

The Valencian squad, in the training they held this Wednesday afternoon, observed a minute of silence. Layhoon and Miguel Ángel Corona were also present. Not, however, Yarek and Rubén Iranzo, who could not attend due to traffic closures on Valencian roads and towns.
